A stunning hilly ride with off road turf as well as tracks which is straight forward to follow.

CHAx09 Start / Finish
Leave the car parkthrough the gate near the entrance to the car park signed Monsal Trail and turn left onto the Monsal Trail.

Road
At Bakewell Station leave the Monsal Trail through the car park and turn left and immediately left on the road up the hill.
CHAw02 Waypoint 2
Bridleway
You will see a gravel track to your right with a sign that says motorbikes are not allowed on the bridleway. This crosses a golf course; watch out for golf carts! It continues up the hill through a wood, crossing other tracks. At times this is quite rough and steep. If the ground is likely to be very wet you could keep on the road, as the bridleway rejoins it near the top of the hill.

If you are on the bridleway, at the road turn right.

Bridleway and Footpath
Over the brow of the hill take the gravel track to the right signed as a bridleway and footpath [ blue and yellow arrows.]. This leads to Edensor.

Tearoom.
Next to the Church is a tea-room and store with toilets. [ No hitching rail, but there is a car park.]

Bridleway
Leave Edensor through the imposing gate that can be opened from horseback. Turn right on the turf. Follow the unfenced road, looking for a wooden post to your right when the road swings left. Follow the posts across the turf up to the wood on the crest of the hill.

Pass through a tall wooden gate onto a walled and unsurfaced lane, which shortly leads you to another gate and more turf.

Follow the path straight ahead across this turf to a stone walland follow it, keeping the wall to your left. You will pass one five bar gate but go through the second.

There is track to follow but as you climb the steep hill watch out for the bridleway veering left.

At the crest of the hill of the hill is a double gate next to a wlkers stile over the wall. Pass through the gates, keeping the wall to your right. When you reach a grassy ride to the left through the pines follow it across the ridge to a viewpoint.

The bridleway continues on the other side of the wall down the hill to the left to a junction of tracks

Bridleway
The bridleway continues on the other side of the wall down the hill to the left to a junction of tracks. Keep heading straight on down when you meet the cross tracks.

Bridleway
At the next junction of tracks carry straight on, passing Bowling Green Farm. Here you can take a shortcut by turning right downhill to rejoin the Monsal trail at WP 17 just after the track goes under the bridge carrying the Trail. Turn rright onto the trail back to the car park.

The bridleway then passes through two fields to rejoin a surfaced road.

Bridleway
Follow the road left down to the river Wye.

Bridleway
Turn right through a gate just before the river. Follow the river to the fence line then turn right along it to the gate onto a track. This will take you to a road.

Cross the road and onto the Monsal Trail.
